What is Dryland? Rigs and Carts?

“Dryland” is the term used to describe any dog sport discipline NOT carried out on snow. Rigs (3-wheels) and Carts (4-wheels) are best described as something similar to a tricycle or quad but without pedals or a seat. Teams of two or more dogs pull the rig/cart along whilst the human stands on it and controls the brakes, steers and calls instructions to the dogs. You can also get Passenger Carts/Rigs that have a seat on them at the front so that another person can ride along, these are great for training larger teams, if you have any problems then the passenger can hop off and help out. They are also great to give people a chance to experience the thrill of running dogs, without the responsibility of controlling them.
