Emily Evans- Canicross

Hi, my name is Emily, I run Canicross with my 7 year old border collie Sven and I sometimes double up with my 4 year old collie x kelpie Maple.

I started running to get more active and help me with my headspace, Sven started coming along with me and I just loved being able to have another activity to do with him. When I stumbled on to Canicross in 2017 I was hooked immediately, running with him was great but running as a real team was out of this world. I started to look for some races in 2019 and we have competed in Canix events and Tough Runner canicross since. As much as I do love competing the best part is being out and about with Sven doing something we both love.

When the opportunity arose to become an Instructor for Sporty Paws I jumped at it so that I would be able to safely and correctly help others start this wonderful sport and share the joy it brings.

I have over 15 years experience with high energy working dogs having handled and stock trained our working sheep dogs at home from a young age.
This has helped me learn about how to harness and focus their energy on the job which in turn can be applied to training them for canicross.
