Hi, I’m Darren.
I am a professional Sports Therapist, qualified in Personal Training for over 20 years and owner of Fit2The Core Training Systems Ltd.
As a fairly new convert to running, I now regularly complete Half Marathons and the occasional Ultra Marathon too.
I became interested in Canicross when my little Staffy became old enough to run with me around six months ago, but at the time, didn’t have a clue where to start. He loves running, but as there were no local Canicross Trainers too me to get advice, I started out wearing unsuitable kit meaning he didn’t really enjoy his early experiences of the sport. As a result, I looked into becoming a Canicross instructor with Sporty Paws to ensure my clients are able to run safely with their own dogs and so that I have the knowledge to safely offer Canicross training and group sessions.

My dog Ted and I love running with Consett Canicross. Darren is fantastic, knowledgeable and encouraging. All the dogs love him and there are always big smiles, human and dog at the end of the sessions. If you haven't tried canicross I would recommend Darren as an instructor either for an introductory or group run session.

I started with a 121 - Darren checked and advised on kit and we went out for a little run to start to use commands. I've happily signed up for just £10 a month, the support is brilliant. Darren is really easy to get along with, supportive and the rest of the club have made my nutty labradoodle and I very welcome. Have mentioned the club to a couple of friends who are hopefully going to join too and I cannot recommend him enough. Also love that he helps with a local rescue centre
Darren always looks after us, and I always feel safe and confident with my dog, who is not the easiest, however my dog has improved so much, getting over his fears and he really enjoys the canicross sessions, I'm now so proud of him, and I love running with Darren and the crew.
